Oranje visit favela in Vitoria

The Netherlands U-17 team visited a favela in Vitoria during the group stage of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Brazil 2019™, meeting its residents while gaining insights into the conditions of the area. After greeting and chatting with the Brazilian children, included in the experience were a game of football and a demonstration of Capoeira, the Brazilian martial art.

"We are coming from a hotel where everything has been prepared for us, so seeing how totally different things are here is eye-opening," said Oranje goalkeeper Tein Troost. "I gave my gloves to one of the kids and his reaction was wonderful. He was incredibly happy, and that means a lot to me. These kids can do the same things we can, and I want them to realise that. Maybe one day they'll play for the Brazilian national team. You have to believe it and do everything for it."
