The pairings are different but the roles remain the same in Group F with USA and Sweden heavy favourites once again in the section's second round of matches. Chile and Thailand face familiarly long odds but each know they must spring a surprise if they are to maintain any hope of vying with their heavyweight opponents for a top-two finish.

Alexandra Jonson (SWE) Sweden have left the torrential rain in Rennes for sunshine and the 30-degree heat of Nice - a huge change in weather ahead of their match against Thailand. The win against Chile put them in a good position in the group but the Swedes will want to show a lot more efficiency in front of goal. This match should be a good opportunity to work on just that. Madelen Janogy was the big revelation against Chile and it’s possible she will get the chance from the start to show what she can do.

Piyapat Saropala (THA) After their humiliating loss to the FIFA Women’s World Cup™ holders, Thailand are out to restore some morale. They know that another defeat will effectively end their chances of taking an unlikely spot in the knockout phase. Although the mood in the squad has remained largely positive, the Thais will need to give every ounce of effort to take anything against a strong Sweden side.

Erin Fish (USA) After that brilliant opening match in which they racked up a record-breaking scoreline against Thailand, USA head into Sunday's match against Chile confident but not satisfied. With the final goal in mind, the players are focused on taking it one game at a time as they set about retaining their world title. The US team was all attack against Thailand but may have some more defensive work to do against their technical South American opposition on Sunday. One thing is for sure: the US do not plan on taking their foot off the gas.

Cecilia Lagos (CHI) Optimism reigns in the Chilean camp after their impressive FIFA Women’s World Cup™ debut against Sweden. The players acknowledge that their concentration levels dropped after the weather-enforced break and they know how important it will be to remain fully focused against USA. They already played against the world champions twice last year and, having learned from those experiences, there is quiet confidence among the players that they can cause a surprise.
