Osorio hands in Paraguay reins

  • Juan Carlos Osorio exits as Paraguay coach

  • Colombian sights family reasons for departure

  • Copa America four months away

Juan Carlos Osorio’s short tenure as Paraguay coach has come to an end after the Colombian resigned due to “family reasons”.

Osorio assumed the reins in September and was due to lead La Albirroja in this year’s Copa America.

"For my own family reasons, unfortunately I can't continue in the job," said Osorio. "I'd like to thank you all for your support. It brought me pride to manage, lead and train the national team."

Paraguay are drawn against Argentina, Colombia and Qatar in June’s continental tournament.

The 57-year-old Osorio led Mexico to the last-16 at the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™, with their campaign highlighted by a memorable win over holders Germany.
