Team Analyst Workshop

The decision of the IFAB in March 2018 to allow the use of small handheld devices within the technical area opened a new frontier for football performance analysts.

This change in the law now gives the capacity for performance analysts to provide insight live during the game, supporting the coaching staff to make more informed decisions in-game.

During the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™, FIFA provided each team with match analysis software and audio communication devices. The same capacity will be in place this summer in France at the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019™. To make sure that all team performance analysts are familiar with the technology that will be in place, FIFA is hosting a FIFA Women’s World Cup™ team analyst workshop to give the analysts the chance to get hands on with the equipment. They will also have the opportunity to interact not only with fellow performance analysts but also to engage with the software and hardware providers of the systems that will be in place.  This event and the infrastructure being put in place at the tournament this summer demonstrates the growing importance of the role performance analysts play within the technical team.
