Relive the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Jordan 2016 draw

The official draw for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016 took place in Amman, a significant step towards a historic tournament.

The Jordanian capital’s Al Hussein Cultural Centre played host to the event, which determined the path to glory for all 16 teams competing at this year’s global showpiece.

The U-17 Women’s World Cup has already helped launch the career of several top women’s stars such as Crystal Dunn, Mana Iwabuchi, Alexandra Popp and Lucy Bronze, and this year it comes to the Middle East for the first time.

Holders Japan lead a varied and formidable field in which traditional women’s giants USA, Germany, Nigeria and Brazil feature alongside debutants Cameroon and Jordan.

Tatjana Haenni, FIFA Deputy Director and Head of Women's Football and Samar Nassar, CEO of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Local Organising Committee, conducted proceedings with the help of four remarkable draw assistants: Stephanie Al Naber, Maha Barghouti, Yasmeen Khair and Dana Haider. Al Naber is captain of the Jordan women’s national team and the first female Arab footballer to play in a foreign league; Bergouti the country’s only Olympic or Paralympic gold medal-winner, Khair a renowned gymnast and footballer; and Haider a taekwondo star.
