The year 2018 may be drawing to a close, but one of its most exciting moments is still to come: the Final Draw for the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019™ will be held on 8 December 2018! Anticipation is growing among not just the participating teams but also fans from all over the world. Football lovers cannot wait to find out who their country has been drawn against, and in which cities they will be able to watch the matches.
To help the time pass more quickly, and to whet your appetite even more, FIFA.com is formally starting the countdown to the draw. Every day, we are offering a statistic or a piece of information linked to the biggest event in women’s football.
Just nine days to go!
The number of French cities that will host the FIFA Women’s World Cup. From north to south, east to west, whether it’s your home or you’re on holiday: no matter where you may be in France, there is sure to be a host city nearby. Grenoble, Le Havre, Lyon, Montpellier, Nice, Paris, Reims, Rennes and Valenciennes have all been chosen to organise this great event. By way of comparison, at the tournament’s last edition only six cities played host to the world’s best teams in Canada. The opening match of the 2019 tournament will be played in Paris, while the semi-finals and final will take place in Lyon.
