USA’s path to the world crown at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup France™ began with a raft of records falling and Alex Morgan at the centre of it. The star striker bagged five goals in a tournament record 13-0 rout of Thailand in their group-stage opener in Reims.

Morgan’s tally equalled the mark set by compatriot Michelle Akers in the inaugural edition of the tournament 28 years earlier. But one of Morgan’s quintet clearly stood out above the others.

With 16 minutes of the match remaining, the tall forward completed her hat-trick with a dazzling piece of footwork that left her marker grasping at thin air. Morgan received the ball on the edge of the penalty area, took a step sideways, deftly dragged the ball back with her left foot, before firing home perfectly with her right for a high-quality goal.

Does Morgan deserve the France 2019 Goal of the Tournament Award for her stunning strike? You decide!
