As Poland gets ready to host the FIFA U-20 World Cup that starts on 23 May 2019, FIFA launched the bidding process for the 23rd edition of the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2021 today.
All member associations have received the following overview document and will have until 21 May 2019 to declare their interest in hosting the competition by submitting the completed and duly signed declaration of interest form.
After the deadline to submit expressions of interest, the following timeline will apply:
24 May 2019: FIFA to send out the bidding and hosting documents to those member associations that have declared an interest
21 June 2019: Deadline for the member associations to reconfirm their interest in bidding by submitting the signed terms and conditions of the bidding process
30 August 2019: Deadline for the member associations to submit their definitive bids, including all signed bidding and hosting documents
Q4 2019: Anticipated appointment of the host(s) by the FIFA Council
Since the establishment of the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 1977, the competition has featured numerous global stars such as Messi, Maradona, Iniesta, Griezmann, Salah and Piqué.
In addition, FIFA’s second oldest competition is a means to promote and develop football while giving future host(s) the opportunity to showcase their capacity to stage a FIFA competition.
