New Zealand win through to PNG

New Zealand’s qualification for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup PNG 2016 has been confirmed on the penultimate day of action at the OFC tournament in Tonga.

The New Zealanders didn’t have to take the field to book their sixth successive participation at the tournament, after nearest challengers Samoa and Vanuatu played out a 3-3 draw to remain four and five points respectively off the pace heading into the final matchday.

New Zealand will seek a fourth successive win on Saturday, having already won their three matches, scoring 59 goals in the process.

New Zealand’s qualification means the will feature alongside hosts Papua New Guinea next year, with the tournament to feature two OFC nations for the first time.
