Team Workshop a success for Brazil 2019 coaches

  • Team workshop ahead of Brazil 2019 took place in Brasilia on 29 August

  • 14 coaches participated to receive important information about the tournament

  • FIFA Legend and former Brazil goalkeeper Julio Cesar also present

A team workshop ahead of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Brazil 2019 was held on a sweltering but productive day at the Hotel Brasilia in the capital city of the tournament hosts.

The objective of the meeting, which was attended by 14 coaches who will be at the event when it kicks off on 26 October, was to share vital information with the teams' delegates on topics including logistics, competition matters, security, transport, media and medical issues.

Also in attendance was former Brazil goalkeeper and FIFA Legend Julio Cesar, who shared a message with the participants and also spoke to FIFA.com about his experiences in the age category and what to expect from Brazil 2019.

The team workshop also served to whet the appetite ahead of the launch of the ticket sales, the first round of which will be available for general purchase on Friday 30 August at 17:00 CEST.

“This is an event for the Brazilian fans to embrace because the best players of that age will be here," Julio Cesar said. "It is very nice to watch them play. I ask the fans to go to the stadiums, to embrace the players for all teams, especially Brazil."

What they said

The coaches shared their thoughts on the event in Brasilia in the mixed zone.

“It is very special for us to play a World Cup at home. We want our matches in this tournament to be spectacularly well played. Our goal is to bring the fans to our side and have them become the 12th player on the field. This will give us strength and push the team to give their best to make the difference in this great World Cup." Guilherme Dalla Dea, Brazil head coach

"Very proud to be in Brazil to play this tournament. Brazil is the country of football, so we know we are going to find great conditions to compete in here. We received a very warm welcome at the team workshop today, a really professional environment and a good presentation to help us best prepare. We are going to use this chance to visit training sites and the venues." Jean-Claude Giuntini, France head coach

"It is very exciting to be here and to see where our home will be for a few weeks, hopefully longer. It's also great to connect with the other coaches and the Local Organising Committee and FIFA representatives. Since arriving it’s great to see how much passion the Brazilians have for football. You feel it straight away. I know both myself and the players are really looking forward to coming here in October. Once we knew the tournament would be here in Brazil, it immediately brought positive feelings and excitement. Of course, being drawn in the group together with the hosts makes it even more special. We look forward to that challenge." Jose Figueira, New Zealand head coach

"We always receive a very warm welcome when we play in Brazil. Today was really useful in making sure we can prepare for the tournament and gather the information we need to prepare our team for when they will be here to play the tournament. It was good to meet with the organisation and have all the information we need. For us this is an incredible opportunity to represent our country on the world stage in the maximum competition for this level." Cristian Leiva, Chile head coach
