Mexican duo 90 minutes from UAE 2017

  • First leg of CONCACAF Champions League final ended 1-1

  • The winners will represent the region at the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017

  • Pachuca goalkeeper Alfonso Blanco: When we give our all we can take on any team

The second leg of the 2016/17 CONCACAF Champions League final between Pachuca and Tigres takes place on Wednesday, with a place at the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017 awaiting the winners.

The two remaining sides in the 24-team competition fought out an exciting first leg in Monterrey last week, a game that ended in a 1-1 draw and featured a missed penalty and some superb stops from both keepers.

Both sides will play to their strengths once more in the second and decisive leg in Pachuca. While the experienced Tigres will look to their powerful front line to give them the edge, the hosts - who boast a more youthful line-up - will bank on their dynamic style and defensive organisation to win the day.

Both sides lost their Mexican league matches at the weekend after resting key players ahead of the return leg. The question now is, can Tigres bounce back from defeat to America in last year’s final and end Pachuca’s long unbeaten run at home, which stretches all the way back to 16 January 2015, or will Los Tuzos check into the FIFA Club World Cup for a fourth time?

The answer will be revealed on Wednesday evening.

What they said“We’ve got a really good group of players in the dressing room. Pachuca always give 100 per cent. When we give it our all we can take on any team.” Pachuca goalkeeper Alfonso Blanco, speaking exclusively to FIFA.com.
