Senegal back on track with dominant win over Belarus

Group C is officially the most open group at the Beach Soccer World Cup after Senegal dismantled Belarus 7-2.

The Senegalese opened the scoring through Raoul Mendy’s long-range free-kick, which took a friendly bounce past Belarus goalkeeper Valery Makarevich. Ninou Diatta doubled the African champions’ lead when he pounced onto a second ball and steered it in with a well-placed shot.

Aleh Hapon brought Belarus back into the game briefly, scoring the only goal of the second period, but Senegal completely pulled away in the third thanks in large part to a finishing masterclass from Mamour Diagne, who scored an incredible four goals in the final period.

Diagne showed intelligence to chip Makarevich on one occasion and determination on another to win a one-on-one duel, leading his team to victory, and in turn bringing all four teams in the group on three points heading into the final round of the group stage.
