2014 FIFA World Cup™ Golden Boot winner James Rodriguez has joined Bayern Munich from Real Madrid on a two-year loan deal until 30 June 2019, the German Bundesliga side have confirmed.

The German champions also have the option to buy the Colombia international.

Rodriguez, who won the 2014 FIFA Puskàs Award for his goal against Uruguay at Brazil 2014, will sign his contract in Munich once his medical has been completed.

“We’re delighted we’ve been able to complete this transfer. Signing James Rodriguez was our coach Carlo Ancelotti’s biggest wish, following their successful spell working together in Madrid,” said Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

“James is a very versatile player. He’s a goalscorer himself, he sets up a lot of goals and on top of that he’s great from set-pieces. There’s no question that this transfer further increases the quality in our team.”

Rodriguez has bagged five goals for Colombia on the road to Russia 2018, where they currently occupy second spot in South American qualifying.
