Infantino continues Caribbean tour to St. Vincent and the Grenadines

On the second day of touring Caribbean member associations, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, alongside FIFA Vice-President and Concacaf President Victor Montagliani, reached Saint Vincent, where they were welcomed by the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation leadership, headed by SVGFF President Marvin Fraser.

As part of the visit, the delegation was received in audience at the Prime Minister’s Office by Minister of Tourism, Sports and Culture Cecil McKie, in order to discuss the way forward for the development of the game on the islands, where football plays a key role in society, especially for young people.

“It is very important that football development moves forward in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, notably with the improvement and further development of existing football facilities and investment in new infrastructures across the country, in full agreement and cooperation with the local authorities. This will boost participation and have a positive knock-on effect on the community, thanks to the important social role played by football,” said the FIFA President.

The programme of the President’s visit also included a meeting with the federation’s Executive Committee as well as a visit to the SVGFF Technical Center at the Brighton Playing Field, where the local national team was preparing the following day’s friendly match against Trinidad and Tobago.

To conclude the visit, the FIFA delegation, which also included the Member Associations and Development Director for Africa and the Caribbean Region Veron Mosengo-Omba, had the opportunity to meet the local football community in the presence of local media.
