Germany, Korea DPR and Spain advance to the quarter-finals
Frustration for Cameroon and USA
First two quarter-final ties to be played on Saturday 24 November
THE DAY REPLAYED - The picture finally cleared in Group C as Germany and Korea DPR clinched places in the last eight at the expense of USA, who tumbled out of the group phase for the third time in a row (Azerbaijan 2012, Jordan 2016 and now Uruguay 2018), and Cameroon, who saw their hopes of continuing their Uruguayan adventure vanish in the second half.
Meanwhile, Spain sent a message to their rivals with an emphatic defeat of Canada to win Group D, while Colombia and Korea Republic rounded off their latest FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup experiences by playing to a subdued draw.

Memorable moments Dancing with Capi: The many children who turned up to watch Korea Republic take on Colombia at the Estadio Profesor Alberto Suppici in Colonia were more intent on expressing their admiration of someone off the pitch than cheering for the players on it, all in the hope of enjoying a little dancing with her. The object of their affection was none other than the popular Uruguay 2018 mascot, who attracted more chants of “Capi, Capi” than ever.
Scouting mission: As they wait for their quarter-final ties to come around, both Ghana and Japan’s players used their time gainfully on Wednesday, watching the day’s matches in Montevideo. In taking the opportunity to get acquainted with their possible opponents later in the competition, they will surely have been impressed by Germany’s show of strength.
An inexact science: There are times when football defies logic, as the USA players will vouch for. The Stars and Stripes’ 26 goal attempts against Germany saw them hit the woodwork three times and fail to score, while their opponents needed exactly half that amount to put four goals past them.
Playing at a disadvantage: Canada went up against one of the best-drilled sides in the competition without their leading players, who were rested ahead of the quarter-finals. The Spanish subsequently ran through the gears to take top spot in Group D from the Canucks’ grasp.
