2018 FIFA World Cup™: More than 1.5 million tickets requested

With a week still to go until the first sales period concludes on 12 October, more than 1.5 million 2018 FIFA World Cup™ tickets have already been requested through FIFA.com/tickets. This milestone was reached as excitement continues to build ahead of the FIFA World Cup in Russia, with several teams hoping to secure their passage or move a step closer to qualification this week.

Russian fans lead the way, having requested around 70 per cent of all tickets, while demand from around the world accounts for around 30 per cent. Brazilian, Mexican, Argentinian, US, German, Colombian, Chinese, Israeli and English fans all rank in the top 10, with more and more international fans expected to apply for tickets as teams continue to qualify. While fans from all over the world have a unique opportunity to secure tickets for all matches, some fixtures traditionally produce greater demand, with around 90,000 tickets having already been requested for the Opening Game and more than 132,000 for the Final.

During the current sales period, which runs until 12.00 Moscow time on 12 October, fans from all over the world still have the chance to apply for tickets for FIFA’s flagship tournament on FIFA.com/tickets. During this sales period, it makes no difference whether fans submit their applications on day 1, the last day or any time in between, as all applications will have the same chance of being successful. In cases where the number of tickets applied for exceeds the available inventory, tickets will be allocated by a random selection draw process. All successful, partially successful and unsuccessful applicants will be duly notified of the outcome of their applications by 16 November 2017.

Tickets purchased during the current sales phase will be delivered free of charge to fans in the weeks leading up to the tournament, with deliveries planned to start in April/May 2018 (subject to change).
