Who doesn’t love a good, old reunion?

In 2018, FIFA.com set up a momentous one between two of the biggest icons of the FIFA World Cup™: the stunning Trophy and Diego Maradona.

Intriguingly, the man who inspired Argentina to glory at Mexico 1986 was in the midst of an interview about other things football, and had no idea he was going to come face-to-face with the Trophy. His reaction was priceless!

"It's beautiful, it's beautiful!" said a bowled-over Maradona, “I want to take it home with me!

“I was privileged to experience that, out of thousands of footballers. It makes me feel grateful to God for having made me a footballer.

“It’s something you fight and strive so much for. And we all strive for the same thing, with the same passion and grit, working overtime with the dream of getting close to this cup. This means the world. I’ve got the world in my hands right now.”
