CONMEBOL adheres to World Autism Awareness Day

The headquarters of CONMEBOL, the South American Football Confederation, have been highlighted blue in support of World Autism Awareness Day, which is commemorated annually worldwide on 2 April.

The United Nations General Assembly declared the date as World Autism Awareness Day, highlighting the need to improve the quality of life of children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Under the slogan "inclusion, tolerance and respect," the awareness campaign this year aims to help society better understand what living with autism is like.

The call also goes out to the policy makers to promote inclusive policies and tolerance towards people with ASD.

Secretary General of the United Nations Organization Ban Ki-moon said: "On this World Autism Awareness Day, I call for advancing of the rights of individuals with autism and ensuring their full participation and inclusion as valued members of our diverse human family who can contribute to a future of dignity and opportunity for all."
