Stevan Mackic: From passionate player to team manager

  • The Serb discovered his passion for the FIFA series at an early age

  • He went from amateur player to winner of Serbia’s biggest competition and all the way to team manager

  • The story of Stevan Mackic at a glance

Stevan Mackic began playing video games at a young age after discovering the Megadrive at a gaming event in the small Serbian town of Opovo. The first edition of FIFA he bought was FIFA 2002. "Thierry Henry was on the cover back then," he recalled. "All I can remember about my first game in the FIFA series was the pure delight it gave me."

After quickly realising that he was more than just an average FIFA player, the Serb began to enter local competitions, including the now-discontinued WCG tournament. "During that time I met a lot of people with exactly the same passion as me," Stevan explained.

Mackic first made a name for himself across Serbia by winning what was then the country’s biggest tournament: Belgrade Games.CON. In 2018 he was unveiled as team manager of Red Star Belgrade’s newly-founded eFootball side. Within a few months he had secured the services of 'brstimir', Serbia’s most successful FIFA player, and 'Milka90', one of Slovenia’s best FUT players.

The team went on to win every major offline tournament in Serbia that season and finished third at a competition hosted by Manchester City. The Serbian club also took part in online qualification for the FIFA eClub World Cup, scoring 13 points in Group F.

"FIFA has taught me to never give up and believe that success will come if you work hard enough for it," Mackic concluded.
