Košice-Šaca Hospital is a private hospital with an academic affiliation to the Faculty of Medicine of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik** **University in Košice. It is a general hospital with a strong focus on musculoskeletal medicine.
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery focuses on sports medicine and arthroscopy, foot and ankle surgery and joint replacements, with 2,500 major operations performed annually and more than 30,000 office visits. Sports medicine, with facilities for complex cardiopulmonary diagnostics, is an integral part of the department. The Department of Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy provides comprehensive conservative and rehabilitation care and manual therapy of musculoskeletal and neurologic disorders.
The Department of Radiology operates modern CT and MRI facilities, while the Department of Internal Medicine participates in cardiopulmonary diagnostics and nutrition analysis for patients.

There is a huge tradition of and ample expertise in taking care of athletes. Doctors at our institutions are currently working with various local and national Slovakian sports teams.
We have actively promoted “FIFA 11+” to several local primary schools. There is an ongoing study on concussion in athletes. Other research projects include cartilage restoration in athletes, arthritis in older athletes and tendon disorders in football players.
