After months of intense competition around the globe, the eagerly anticipated FIFA eWorld Cup 2019™ gets under way on Friday 2 August at The O2 in London.

Millions of players started out with the release of FIFA 19 in September 2018 and with the culmination of July’s FIFA 19 Global Series Playoffs, the world’s top 32 players will vie for the right to call themselves the world's best.

FIFA.com runs the rule over the competitors in Xbox’s Group A, which looks set to produce many memorable match-ups with heavyweights going head to head.

The players

‘Tekkz’ – Xbox #1

It’s been a dominant year for teenage sensation ‘Tekkz’. The Xbox No1 has picked up a plethora of honours this campaign including three FUT Champions Cups, the FIFA eClub World Cup, the ePremier League with his beloved Liverpool and more. Can the Englishman cap a stand-out season by getting his hands on his first eWorld Cup title?

‘Megabit’ – Xbox #4

Megabit went into last year’s Grand Final as the Xbox's top seed and was one of the favourites to take home the title. After a formidable start last year, recording 15 points from five games on the opening day, the Werder Bremen man exited at the quarter-final stage at the hands of eventual winner ‘MsDossary’. Can Germany’s national champion go further this year?

‘Stokes’ – Xbox #5

In-form Englishman ‘Stokes’ finished the season as the Xbox division champion at the FIFA 19 Global Series Playoffs, pulling off an upset in the final to deny ‘Tekkz’ an eighth title of the season. With the campaign reaching the business end, ‘Stokes’ will be hoping to build on his valiant performance at the playoffs with another impressive showing at the Grand Final.

‘Resende’ – Xbox #8

Of the five Brazilians at this year’s eWorld Cup, ‘Resende’ boasts the highest ranking among his compatriots, coming in at No8. Representing Mesut Ozil’s M10 eSports and making a return to the Grand Final after last year’s appearance, ‘Resende’ has demonstrated his capabilities with strong showings in events this year such as the FUT Champions Cups. He also overcame stern opposition in the playoffs, seeing off the likes of 2017 world champion ‘Gorilla’.

‘Dani’ – Xbox #9

A popular figure on the competitive FIFA scene, ‘Dani’ is no stranger to playing at major events having featured at the likes of the eClub World Cup and FIFA eNations Cup this year. Representing Ajax at club level and the Netherlands on the international stage, ‘Dani’ can draw on his experience ahead of competing at his third consecutive Grand Final.

‘Janoz’ – Xbox #12

Of the seven South Americans at the Grand Final, ‘Janoz’ is flying the flag for Colombia. The Bogota-native is no stranger to the world finals. The 27-year-old finished runner-up back in the 2011 edition of the tournament – then known as the FIFA Interactive World Cup – in Los Angeles, losing out to Portugal’s Francisco Cruz.

‘Tass’ – Xbox #13

'Tass' came back from a disappointing FIFA 18 to finish the FIFA 19 campaign with a place at the Grand Final. It’s been a memorable year for the Londoner who qualified for three FUT Champions Cups, reached the semi-finals of the eClub World Cup 2019 and represented his beloved Arsenal in the inaugural ePremier League. He will have the advantage of playing the Grand Final on home turf.

‘Ebinho' – Xbox #16

Part of Wolves’ Brazilian duo with compatriot ‘Fifilza7’, ‘Ebinho’ secured the last remaining Xbox place at the Grand Final. He has played a part in major tournaments such as the eClub World Cup and the eNations Cup this year, showing his tournament pedigree by reaching the knockout stages of both.
