One of Korea Republic’s most technically-gifted players, Lee Chungyong brings something to the table that no one else does for the Taeguk Warriors: he has scored more than once at a FIFA World Cup™. Lee scored two goals at South Africa 2010, one against Argentina and the other against Uruguay.
Although he has struggled to find consistent playing time at club level in England for the past several seasons, in a large part due to multiple setbacks with serious injuries, he can be a valuable option for coach Shin Taeyong.
Nicknamed “Blue Dragon”, the direct translation of his given name, Lee has scored eight international goals, two coming in the early stages of Russia 2018 qualifiers. Lee’s career and transition to Europe mirrors captain Ki Sungyueng’s as they both made the leap after a successful spell with FC Seoul.
