The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ Local Organising Committee (LOC) was set up by the Government of the Russian Federation and the Football Union of Russia in January 2011.
Chairman of the Russia 2018 LOC is Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Vitaly Mutko. The LOC’s CEO is Alexey Sorokin.
The LOC is responsible for the planning and staging of the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017.
The LOC has three levels of management:
The LOC cooperates with FIFA on two levels. The strategic decisions are made at the level of LOC Management Board meetings with FIFA participation, and at the working level, the LOC interacts with FIFA within the Project operations group.
