Tickets for South Africa 2010

Tickets to the world's greatest sports spectacles will always be coveted and FIFA have endeavoured to ensure that the distribution is as equitable as possible. The new initiative aims to increase the number of tickets that will be made available for supporters who travel to South Africa to support their favourite team.

The ticket allocation for the team supporters will be increased from 8 per cent to 12 per cent of purchasable tickets for the group matches. This means that a total of 24 per cent of the purchasable tickets for the group matches will be in the hands of the teams' supporters and will be sold directly to them by FIFA. This is a 4 per cent increase from the previous two FIFA World Cups in 2002 and 2006. FIFA will be working closely with the qualified teams to ensure that existing loyalty programmes are respected for any existing football supporters clubs the teams may have.

Furthermore, the general public will be able to purchase category 1-4 tickets online from February 2009 on FIFA.com. These tickets will be on sale until a few hours before the final match of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, subject to availability. Approximately two-thirds of the three million tickets available will be on sale to the general public. More tickets may become available when the stadium construction and refurbishment of the ten stadiums have been completed.

Paper Ticket Applications will be available for South Africans at authorised outlets and internationally, upon request. Tickets are also available to the general public as part of the Official FIFA Tour Operator Programme and the Official FIFA Hospitality Programme.

Category 4 tickets are exclusively available for South African residents and nationals. The price of a wheelchair seat will include a companion seat and will be sold at the same price as Category 4 tickets.

As part of FIFA and the 2010 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee's commitment to give South Africans access to the games, they are engaging in the largest social responsibility programme, the Ticket Fund. The Ticket Fund initiative will allocate 120,000 tickets over 64 matches for the South Africans cannot afford to purchase tickets.
