Feyenoord's Japanese international midfielder Shinji Ono is set to return home after the Dutch side confirmed on Thursday that they have accepted an offer from his former club Urawa Red Diamonds.
The 26-year-old will now have to agree personal terms with the J-League club for the move which will take place in January if the deal goes through. Details of the transfer sum were not revealed.
Ono joined the Dutch side in 2001 and helped them lift the UEFA Cup in his first season, but he missed a large part of last season because of an ankle injury for which he has undergone surgery twice.
He played 111 times for Feyenoord scoring 19 times. Ono played for the Red Diamonds between 1997 and 2001.
