Laurent Koscielny has revealed he prefers playing Scrabble to video games, and admits his France team-mates “must think I’m like a granddad”.

The 31-year-old is one of the oldest members of the* Bleu *

squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ qualifier at home to Sweden on Friday. It also includes Ousmane Dembele, Kingsley Coman, Adrien Rabiot and Samuel Umtiti, who are 19, 20, 21 and 22 respectively, as well 23-year-olds Raphael Varane, Lucas Digne, Paul Pogba and Nabil Fekir.

"My younger team-mates are more tech-savvy than me,” Koscielny told L'Equipe Magazine. “I don't tweet and they must think I'm like a granddad.

"But I love playing Scrabble. I began with my stepdad and brothers. I'm pretty good now, it relaxes me. I'm competitive and I like to win and try and improve.

"I like playing cards and board games, and I played Scrabble a lot during EURO 2016 with Olivier Giroud, Hugo Lloris and some of my other France team-mates. It gave us more laughs than playing video games."

Varane and Antoine Griezmann both have over three million followers on Twitter, while Pogba has 10.4 million on Instagram. See the links to the right to follow @fifaworldcup on Twitter and Instagram.

France top Group A in European qualifying, above Sweden on goal difference, with the Netherlands three points back in third. The French host the Swedes on 11 November, before facing Côte d'Ivoire in a friendly four days later.
