The end of the 2016 Olympic Games gave football’s club competitions the chance to grab the global media spotlight once more, only for international football to steal back into the limelight over the next few days, with FIFA’s digital platforms all braced to offer you the most extensive coverage.

Thursday 1 September will see the start of six days of pure passion in the race to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™. The nations of South America are about to reach the halfway stage of their journey, while in the CONCACAF Zone there are five places to be filled in the ever-exciting Hexagonal, the final six-team qualification round, with the already-qualified Mexico waiting for them.

As if that were not enough, the 12 surviving teams in Asia will embark on the third qualifying round for Russia 2018, while the campaign in Europe will get under way, with reigning world champions Germany kicking off on Sunday with a trip to Norway.

FIFA.com will have interviews with the players, reviews of the most interesting stats, the pick of the match photos and detailed previews and round-ups from all confederations. Our live blog will also be making a return, providing minute-by-minute coverage of events across all six days and giving you the chance to share your views on the qualifiers.
