Joachim Low, Germany coachWe are very satisfied. It was a fantastic performance against a very experienced England team. I’m sure it was a fun game to watch for the fans. We definitely played with lot of confidence, and the first goals were good for our morale. I said to my team at the half-time break, we need to try and score the third goal. We knew we could hit England on the counter-attack because they were open. Our players carried it off brilliantly. And I must compliment Thomas Muller. He is always so cool in front of goal.
Fabio Capello, England managerWe played well but Germany are one of the biggest teams here. We made some mistakes when they played the counter-attack. The little things always decide the results. After we lost the third goal, we played I think a little bit disappointing. Mistakes were made because they played the counter-attack after the free-kick for us. I have time to decide [about my future], I have to speak with the [Football Association] chairman. We have to wait until we come back to London. I want to see if he still has confidence in me.
Thomas Muller, Germany forward and Budweiser Man of the MatchI was lucky with my first goal, I just thank God I decided to go for the right side. I always think it’s very important not to panic before shooting. Now anything is possible, even if there is a tough nut waiting for us in the next round. But that doesn't matter, we just have to clear the way. We are focused on our goal at this tournament and I have left some space in my trophy cabinet at home.
Steven Gerrard, England midfielderGermany are a fantastic team and they deserved their win. We'll go away and have a think about what went wrong and why we didn't progress further in the tournament. As a team we've made a big mistake today and we've been beaten by a good team. They were more clinical in front of goal and they made less mistakes than us and we got punished for that.
Bastian Schweinsteiger, Germany midfielderI am very proud of the team and what we have achieved over the 90 minutes. We played very well tactically, everyone followed the plan. We were compact in defence, won a lot of tackles in midfield and our forwards put in some good movement. We respect both Mexico and Argentina, but there is no fear from us. We are a good team with lots of quality and we can look forward to the quarter-final. We are confident.
Joe Cole, England midfielderWe have to look at ourselves as a group and we weren't good enough from the start of the friendlies, the six games we've played, so it is back to the drawing board. I don't know why that is. If I knew, I'd put it right. We will go away and start again but we have to address the problems that are there.
