After months of comprehensive market research, FIFA is pleased to announce details of the ticket delivery conditions for the 2014 FIFA World Cup™. Ticket buyers now have the option either to receive the tickets by courier service, for a delivery charge, or alternatively pick them up personally at no cost at one of the ticketing collections points within the twelve host cities in Brazil. An international courier service has been commissioned to handle the process for both Brazilian and international customers. BRL 59 (approx $25 USD) will be charged per delivery within Brazil, and $41 USD for any international shipment.
It was decided to use average prices independent of the country or location to which the tickets are to be shipped in order to guarantee the same conditions for all fans irrespective of where they live, within the host country and globally. The delivery fee covers the cost of shipment as well as any other administration costs associated with the service, plus all applicable taxes, and includes up to three attempts to deliver the tickets.
“This is a special optional service for the fans. Tickets are valuable items and as such cannot be simply sent by an ordinary postal service. It must be ensured that these precious goods are safely delivered and this at fair conditions for all fans in Brazil and internationally. I am very pleased that we have finally found what we believe to be a fair and good solution for all ticket holders who opt for having their tickets sent to them,” explained Thierry Weil, FIFA Marketing Director in charge of ticketing.
During the first ticketing sales phase, around 55 per cent of the successful ticket buyers indicated that they would be interested in receiving their tickets by courier service. As of tomorrow, Monday 11 November 2013, except where otherwise indicated in the Ticket Sales Regulations for special ticket products or discounted tickets, ticket buyers – both those who were successful during the first sales window and any new ticket holders - have until 30 January 2014 to choose their preferred collection process within their respective ticket account onFIFA.com. Due to the huge operational complexity of the ticket printing and shipment, it will not be possible to select courier services after 30 January 2014 or for any tickets purchased at a later date.
Upon request, tickets ordered via successful, fully paid-up applications will then be delivered to the address supplied by the applicant until the end of May 2014. For security reasons, the ticket distribution process will only begin in early April 2014, generally aligned with the opening dates of the Ticket Centres in the Host Cities.
