Brazil added to their tally of FIFA World Cup™ goals, while Korea DPR ended a 44-year wait for their sixth in the competition. FIFA.com figures also show a host of scoreless games at half-time.

different scorers have found the target for Brazil in the FIFA World Cup, with Elano the latest to join a long list of distinguished names with their second goal at Ellis Park tonight. The tally also includes two own-goal scorers.

minutes were showing on the Ellis Park clock when Maicon broke the deadlock for A Seleção against the North Koreans. That was also the time when Josimar - with another spectacular effort from a tight angle - scored at Mexico 1986 in a 4-0 win over Poland, which was the last occasion a right-back scored for Brazil at the FIFA World Cup.

years had elapsed between Korea DPR's fifth and sixth goals in the FIFA World Cup. Before Ji Yun-Nam scored late on against Brazil, their previous goal had come at England 1966, with Yang Seung-Kook netting to put them 3-0 ahead in the quarter-final before Portugal came storming back to win 5-3.

years and three months is the average age of the Brazilian squad, making them the oldest of the 32 teams. They are the oldest group of players ever to represent the South American country at a FIFA World Cup. At Germany 2006, Brazil were the second-oldest at 28 years and ten months. In contrast, Korea DPR are the second-youngest squad in South Africa behind Ghana, with an average age of 25 years and four months.

FIFA World Cup matches had been played by Portugal and Côte d'Ivoire prior to their meeting today in Port Elizabeth. And only one of those games had ended all-square: Portugal's quarter-final meeting with England at Germany 2006.

FIFA World Cup games have involved Sven-Goran Eriksson in one of the dug-outs, and five of them have ended as draws. Of the ten games as England coach in the 2002 and 2006 editions, four ended all-square.

games have been played by Brazil in South Africa and they have a 100 per cent record. There were two victories in friendly matches against South Africa in 1996 and 1997, and the five games at last year's FIFA Confederations Cup, before today's meeting with Korea DPR.

of the 14 games played at South Africa 2010 have been 0-0 at half-time. It compares with only two of the first 16 games at Germany 2006.

goals have been scored by New Zealand in the FIFA World Cup and all have come on 15 June. That was the date in the 1982 tournament in Spain when they scored their only two previous goals, against Scotland in a game they eventually lost 5-2. Today was the first time they had avoided defeat in four FIFA World Cup games.

captains at FIFA World Cups have been younger than Marek Hamsik, who led out Slovakia in Rustenburg more than a month shy of his 23rd birthday. He now stands fourth in the all-time list behind Turkey's Seren Turgay (Switzerland 1954) Ladislav Novak of Czechoslovakia (also 1954) and Harry Keough of USA (1950).
