Dunga, Brazil coach
Every team has to play efficiently, in attack and in defence. Overall we played well, especially in the second half, because in the first half we didn’t get our game together and didn't manage to pass the ball quickly. As regards the substitutions we always planned to take Kaka off because it’s more than five months now since he played a full 90 minutes for us in a competitive game. With Nilmar, we wanted to inject some pace. Daniel Alves is a very similar player to Elano and we wanted to see if he could get some shots in from outside the box. And we put Ramires on to give us more energy. At the end of the day we’re not satisfied with how the game went and we want to do better.

Maicon, Brazil right-back and Budweiser Man of the Match
There’s no better feeling than this. When you work hard, you get your rewards. Chances like this don’t come along very often and that’s what I’ve found throughout my career. I think we’ve made a good start. We know that it’s going to be tough, and a real battle, but it’s always important to make a winning start. We want to carry on in the same vein.

Robinho, Brazil forward
The cold weather wasn’t as much of a problem as the way they played, with everybody behind the ball. You have to be patient. When we got the goal, things got easier. Of course we wanted to score more but it’s good to get the three points.

Kim Jong-Hun, Korea DPR coach
The fact that my players scored a goal against a strong team like Brazil gives me a lot of pleasure. We didn’t win but we gained valuable experience. We’re going to be more confident, we want to win our remaining games and get through to the knockout stage. Throughout the match the players followed our gameplan and defended well. We were very well prepared and we got some good shots in on goal. I think we fought bravely and with a little bit of luck we could even have got a better result.

Ji Yun-Nam, Korea DPR midfielder
I’m very happy to have scored our country’s first goal in this World Cup. Brazil are the best team in the world and they are big favourites for the Trophy. We played well in the first half, we defended really well and didn’t let Brazil create any chances. But in the second half we had two lapses in concentration and they scored their two goals one after the other.

Jong Tae Se, Korea DPR striker
I made a few chances and I almost scored. I was disappointed that I didn’t take one of those chances. But I’m going to try to improve for the next game and score my first goal. Portugal are a top-class team, like Brazil, and it is going to be very hard but we’re going to keep trying to make progress.
