THE DAY REPLAYED – Bolivia underlined their status as the surprise package of the Women's Youth Olympic Futsal Tournament Buenos Aires 2018 with a hard-fought win over Trinidad and Tobago to claim the last semi-final ticket.

They made history by doing so, and after successfully coping both with the pressure of the occasion and their opponents' physical style of play, they had the in-form Mario Galvez to thank for securing the points.

The team captain, a favourite among the South Americans' considerable number of fans, scored four times and helped the team control the game in the closing stages to see the result over the line.

In the first fixture of the day, Cameroon captain Colette Ndzana was the star of the show once again, scoring three as the African nation bade farewell to the tournament with a crushing win over Chile.

Cameroon did not break the deadlock until midway through the first half, but ran away with the game once their lead was established. Chile were once again left to rue missed chances while the match was goalless and return home from Buenos Aires without a point on the board.

Did you know?

  • Ndzana was directly involved in 13 of Cameroons 16 goals, scoring six and providing seven assists.
  • Galvez's four-goal haul took her overall tally to 13 and above Portugal's Fifo (11) at the top of the scorers' chart.

What's next
13 October

  • Dominican Republic-Chile, Group D, Main Futsal Hall
  • Portugal-Japan, Group D, CeNARD
  • Spain-Trinidad and Tobago, Group C, Main Futsal Hall
  • Thailand-Tonga, Group C, CeNARD

Neither Portugal nor Japan have dropped a point thus far, making their head-to-head meeting the standout match on the final day of the group stage. The winners will top the section and go on to a likely semi-final assignment against Spain.

The Spanish need just a single point against Trinidad and Tobago to win the group, and can even afford to lose and still finish top given their sizeable goal difference.
