THE ROAD

TO FRANCE

Korea Republic qualified for their second consecutive Women’s World Cup by finishing fifth at the 2018 AFC Women’s Asian Cup. After just missing out on a place in the semi-finals, they beat the Philippines 5-0 in the match for fifth place to take the continent’s last berth at France 2019.

THE COACH

Yoon Deokyeo

Yoon played for Korea Republic at the 1990 FIFA World Cup and retired 3 years later to move into coaching. After working in a number of age categories, the former defender was appointed national team boss in 2012 and has since made them a formidable defensive unit; in their 4 outings at the 2018 Women’s Asian Cup, the Taegeuk Nangja did not concede a single goal.

THE STAR

Ji Soyun

She won her first full international cap at the young age of 15. In the 12 years since then, Ji has become a cornerstone of the Korea Republic line-up. The playmaker has an eye for goal and has established herself as one of the leading performers in the English Women’s Super League with her club side, Chelsea.

See you

in France 2019
