Group A: European duo on top

Two years ago, Ghana, New Zealand and France all crossed swords in the group phase of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Papua New Guinea 2016. On that occasion, the Black Princesses and Junior Football Ferns missed out on places in the last eight, unlike Les Bleuettes.

This scenario has now played out again in France! But instead of USA, who qualified with Les Bleuettes two years ago for the quarter-finals, it was the Netherlands who made it this time.

Group A: Final Standings

  1. France - 7 pts
  2. Netherlands - 6 pts
  3. Ghana - 3 pts

Player to Watch

The adidas Golden Glove winner at Papua New Guinea 2016, Mylene Chavas has conceded only one goal. France currently have the best defence in the tournament, along with Japan.
