The first two European tickets for the FIFA Women's World Cup Germany 2011 have been booked by France and Norway, with *Les Bleuettes *overcoming Italy and the Scandinavians seeing off the challenge of Ukraine.

In Gubbio, Italy took the lead 11 minutes before half-time through Patrizia Panico. But France responded quickly after the break when Elisa Bussaglia rifled in a shot that beat Anna Maria Picarelli via a slight deflection off Roberta D'Adda. They took the lead in the 58th minute when Gaetane Thiney cut in from the right to score.

The visitors put the game beyond doubt in the second minute of added time when Sonia Bompastor turned in a free-kick, and though Giulia Domenichetti reduced the deficit with a long-range shot moments later, it was merely a consolation.

In the evening's second game, Norway strolled to a 2-0 win over Ukraine to claim a 3-0 aggregate win. They took the lead as early as the sixth minute when Ukraine goalkeeper Nadiya Baranova was unable to control a ball played through the middle, allowing Cecilie Pedersen to pounce.

Ukraine came more into the game towards the end of the first half but Norway remained in control and it was no surprise when they struck again with four minutes to go, SolveigGulbrandsen scoring with a lovely lob over Baranova after being played through by Lisа-Marie Woods.

Ukraine and Italy's hopes of qualifying are not over, however, as one place remains via the UEFA-CONCACAF play-offs. In order to earn a two-legged tie against the third-ranked side from North and Central America, they must come through two more play-offs; the first of which sees the two sides meeting on 2/3 and 6/7 October. **Results ***First leg (11 September) *France 0-0 Italy Ukraine 0-1 Norway *Second leg (15 September)* Italy 2-3 France Norway 2-0 Ukraine **Thursday's fixtures** Denmark (1-2) Sweden (Vejle, 6.30pm CET) Switzerland (0-2) England (Wohlen, 7.00pm CET) *First leg scores in brackets*
