England are the first team through to the semi-finals after eliminating Norway for the second FIFA Women's World Cup™ in succession.

While the fixture, the teams and the outcome were the same, this match bore little resemblance to the sides' 2015 meeting, when a nervous and disjointed Lionesses side needed a second-half comeback to scrape through. This time, the English won with a degree of comfort, producing a slick and assured performance - and scoring three excellent goals - to move out of sight long before the end.

Phil Neville's side will now go on to face either France or USA in the last four and, on this form, can be justifiably confident of beating either.

Norway battled bravely in Le Havre but never recovered from the concession of Jill Scott's third-minute opening goal. A resolute England defence was able to keep them at bay for the remainder of the match. Martin Sjogren and his players will be disappointed not to have run the Lionesses closer, having come into the game with high hopes. Nonetheless, the Norwegians - counted out before the tournament even started - can be proud of a run to the quarter-finals that surprised many and showed that their days among the women's game's elite are not over yet.​

Laure James (ENG) To England fans, watching their team cruise into the semi-finals with such a sense of calm must seem almost too good to be true. Yet the Lionesses have grown into this tournament and are now showing an elegance and freedom that was missing from their first couple of performances. Tonight's mature and collected showing was the best yet from Phil Neville's charges, and they had the look of potential title winners. England also continued a recurring theme here at France 2019 by breaking records, with Ellen White's goal establishing her as the team's all-time leading scorer at the Women's World Cup, with six goals - five of which have come this month.
