The Handshake for Peace initiative between FIFA and the Nobel Peace Center will play a prominent role throughout the FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015™. This powerful gesture of friendship and respect, the significance of which was underlined in a video at the recent FIFA Congress, will be on show in matches involving all 24 teams at the showpiece of women's football.

As part of the official match protocol, the two team captains and officials will gather in the centre circle to shake hands both before and after each game. The act will be depicted on an official flag, while both the match officials and captains will sport the Handshake for Peace logo on their kit to identify them.

This joint initiative by FIFA and the Nobel Peace Center in Norway combines football’s international reach with the simple gesture of a handshake to promote peace and fair play. The Handshake for Peace has been an integral part of all FIFA events since making its debut at the FIFA Club World Cup Morocco 2013, with players and officials alike taking the opportunity to set a good example in front of both the fans inside the stadium and the wider public watching games on television.
