Celebs in awe as USA make it four

  • Celebrities aplenty took to social media to hail the USWNT

  • Ellen DeGeneres, Tom Hanks, Niall Horan and Barack Obama were among them

  • Sports stars Kobe, Lebron, Serena and Steph also paid tribute

USA touched down at the eighth FIFA Women’s World Cup™ with it all to do. The pressure of being defending champions, question marks over having the tournament’s oldest squad, and a who’s who of polished powerhouses – including hosts and marginal favourites France, two-time winners Germany, SheBelieves Cup holders England, old foes Japan and European champions the Netherlands – determined to seize their crown.

Jill Ellis and her 23 soldiers returned to the US today having emphatically italicised why they are the finest team on the planet. The USWNT won all seven matches and smashed records aplenty to lift their fourth trophy.

Naturally, American celebrities took to social media to pay tribute to the ‘19ers. FIFA.com spotlights some of the posts.
