Infantino visits FIFA development project in Antigua and Barbuda

As he reached Antigua and Barbuda, for the fifth stop of his Caribbean tour, FIFA President Gianni Infantino was received by Governor-General Rodney Williams and Minister of Sports Daryll Matthew.

During the audiences, together with FIFA Vice-President and Concacaf President Victor Montagliani, they could exchange with the highest representatives of the public authorities on the important role of sport, and football in particular, for the local community.

The delegation then had the opportunity to witness first-hand concrete achievements of the FIFA Forward programme as they visited the national association’s new technical centre, currently under development, funded via FIFA’s flagship development programme.

The new infrastructure in St John includes the new headquarters of the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) as well as football pitches, providing key instruments for the administration and development of football on the islands.

President Infantino said: “We are here to help and further assist the association in the realisation of their football projects. We need to invest in the development of football, in infrastructures, in competitions, for all the boys and girls who love our sport, and do this in cooperation with the local authorities. This is an investment for the society, an investment for the future.”
