FIFA President concludes South America trip in Colombia

Gianni Infantino concluded his first journey to South America as FIFA President in Bogota, Colombia.

In Colombia’s capital city, President Infantino discussed FIFA’s reform process and the preparations for the FIFA Futsal World Cup Colombia 2016 with the President of the Colombia FA Ramon Jesurun. He also congratulated the Colombian national team on its successful qualification for the Men’s Olympic Football Tournament Rio 2016.

Upon arrival, President Infantino met with Colombia’s President Juan Manuel Santos. “I’m convinced Colombia will once again be a great host to a FIFA event. The hospitality and passion of Colombian people will provide a fantastic setting to the FIFA Futsal World Cup. The Colombian FA under the leadership of Ramon Jesurun is doing an excellent job in promoting football development in all areas,” said President Infantino.

Infantino also met current Colombia national team coach Jose Pekerman and coaching legend Francisco "Pacho" Maturana.

“Throughout my journey to Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia and Colombia, I have noticed a genuine commitment from the Member Associations to move forward after a very difficult period and serve football with honesty in light of the ongoing reforms. The unique passion of South American fans that I have sensed over the past few days should serve as an obligation to give our best for football.”
