FIFA Foundation Secretary General nominated for prestigious Woman in Sport award

Joyce Cook, FIFA Chief Social Responsibility & Education Officer and General Secretary of the FIFA Foundation, has been recognised for her work in the field of sport and development having been shortlisted for a sports industry award.

As the first disabled woman in football to be appointed to the FIFA management board and one of the world’s leading voices in the areas of development and inclusion, Cook has been nominated in the ‘Most Inspirational Woman in Sport’ category for the Everything in Sport - Women edition awards.

Speaking of the award nomination, Joyce Cook said: “As a disabled woman working in football, it is an honour to be recognised as one of the most inspirational women in the sports industry and I’m humbled to have been nominated amongst some of sports most inspiring women.

“Each of us has a responsibility to support other women looking to a career in sports and to helping to create ever more inclusive pathways that both mobilise and empower women from diverse communities too, including disabled women. This must be our legacy, to ensure an ever more diverse generation of sports leaders.”

The winner of the award, which will be chosen by Women in Sport, is announced on 4 December at an awards ceremony in London. The ceremony will be attended by stakeholders from across sports.
