Egypt will join Chile, England and Iraq in Group E of the FIFA U-20 World Cup Turkey 2013 as the champions of CAF after taking down Ghana 5-4 in a penalty shoot-out. The two sides had to resort to penalties to determine who would leave Oran, Algeria as the CAF U-20 champion after neither team could break the 1-1 deadlock. Ghana, who finished second in the tournament, will join France, USA and Spain in Group A later this year.

A brace from Aminu Umar secured the bronze medal for Nigeria, who beat Mali 2-1 in the third-place match. Mali scored in the 87th minute to make for an interesting and entertaining finish, but Nigeria held strong and will enter Group B along with Cuba, Korea Republic and Portgual. Mali, who finished fourth in Algeria will compete against Mexico, Greece and Paraguay in Group D play.

All four teams had already qualified for Turkey 2013 by reaching the semi-finals. The FIFA U-20 World Cup Turkey 2013 will take place between 21 June and 13 July in the seven host cities Antalya, Bursa, Gaziantep, Istanbul, Kayseri, Rize and Trabzon.
