Just two days before the action gets underway at the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup France 2018, we answer these and other questions with a selection of some of the tournament’s most notable stats.

The number of different teams to have participated in previous tournaments. From 5 August, two more can be added to that list, with the Netherlands and Haiti set to make their debut at France 2018. In contrast, four teams have graced every U-20 World Cup to date: Germany, USA, Brazil and Nigeria.

The number of U-20 world titles won by Germany and USA, the two most successful teams in the history of the competition. Defending champions Korea DPR are next on the list with two victories.

The total number of goals scored to date. Germany lead the way with 120 strikes in 44 games and also boast the most wins, 32.

The number of hat-tricks scored at the tournament to date. The most recent came from Japan's Mami Ueno in 2016 during a 6-0 rout of Nigeria. With five goals and two assists, the striker picked up the adidas Golden Boot at the last edition, but who will claim that distinction this time around?

The number of goals netted by each of the top three goalscorers in the tournament’s history. The Canadian Christine Sinclair and the German Alexandra Popp achieved it in a single edition – 2002 and 2010 respectively – while American Sydney Leroux helped herself to five in 2008 and repeated the feat in 2010.

The edition that witnessed the two fastest goals – both of which were authored by Nigerians. Asitat Oshoala took just 31 seconds to put her side ahead against New Zealand, before team-mate Courtney Dike set a new record by finding the net a mere 14 seconds into their game with Korea Republic.

The number of minutes China PR’s Yanru Zhang kept her goal intact at the 2006 edition – still a record for this competition.

The number of U-20 World Cups Maren Meinert will have taken part in when she arrives in France. The Germany coach only missed the first two editions, in 2002 and 2004, and has twice led her side to the world title. This edition will see another veteran, England coach Mo Marley, take part in her fifth World Cup in this category.
