For the second time in four days, the Canadian Women's Under-19 Team overpowered Chinese Taipei, today winning 11-0 to follow a 9-1 triumph in Victoria on Sunday. Canada has won all eight of their games to date in the Canada Road to the World Championship, as head coach Ian Bridge’s squad prepares for the first ever FIFA U-19 Women’s World Championship.
Christine Sinclair from Burnaby, BC and Brittany Timko from Coquitlam,BC each scored three goals apiece to pace Canada’s attack. Ontario’s Melanie Booth added two goals, while singles went to Heather Smith of New Westminster, BC, Katie Thorlakson of Langley, BC and Michelle Rowe of Alberta.
Canada’s final warm-up game is in Calgary on Sunday, August 11 against Brazil. Canada, Brazil, and Chinese Taipei will all compete at the FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship in August, with Canada playing in Group A in Edmonton, Chinese Taipei in Victoria in Group C, and Brazil in Vancouver in Group B along with Mexico, Germany, and France.
