Germany's semi-final against Korea Republic in Bochum on Thursday will be preceded by a minute’s silence. The following text will be read out just before the kick-off of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup semi-final at 3.30 pm:

"Last Saturday, almost at the same time as the quarter-final of the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup between Germany and Korea DPR here in Bochum, the terrible events at the Love Parade in Duisburg took place – events that still cause us great sadness. Just a few kilometres from this stadium people came together to share a peaceful and happy communal experience. Please rise in remembrance of the dead and injured. Our thoughts go out to their families and friends.

"We immediately agreed that there should be a minute’s silence for the victims of the Love Parade before the semi-final in Bochum,” said LOC President Steffi Jones. “Everyone here at the Bochum venue felt a real need to express our sympathy on this occasion."
