Argentina earned a 0-0 draw with China in the Group B of the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Chile 2008 at the Nelson Oyarzun Stadium in Chillan.

China proved themselves to be the more powerful team, physically and tactically, but Argentina were able to nullify the Asian's attack, chiefly because of their profligacy in the final third.

China had the majority of the possession and controlled the rhythm of the match, but they could not create any real clearcut chances on goal in the first half. Arguably their only real threat came on the half-hour when Gu Yasha's cross-cum-shot narrowly evaded the keeper and the target.

As it was, Argentina had the best chance of the first half when Maria Potassa's low drive tested the keeper.

The oppressive heat made things difficult after the restart, but both sides still worked hard to try and get the win. Gu hit the bar four minutes after the restart and her minutes later her deflected shot also forced Argentina goalkeeper Guadalupe Calello into a good save.

As the game wore on, Argentina had more possession, but the chances fell to China. Pang Fengyue did a great cross-shot which drifted narrowly wide and Gu, again, watched a long-range effort rebound off the target.
