The key to this game was how we started [by scoring three times in the opening 14 minutes], as we showed a lot of determination from the off. Later on there were spells when Colombia showed what they could do and could have made life difficult for us. If we hadn't got that early cushion, the game might have been different. But let's not miss the point here: Nigeria and China are still the top sides in this group. As for us, we now need to rest well and prepare for our next games.

Going three goals behind so quickly is very tough, it makes it hard to lift the team's spirits. The girls are only 15 or 16 and anxiety and nerves got the better of them. Even so, we tried to play the right way and put in a very good second-half performance. [At the interval] we told them to forget the scoreline and to go out and show what they could really do. We'd like to say sorry to our country and to the people who came to see us today, but they must understand we're talking about young girls and at this age ups and downs are normal.
