Steffi Jones embarks on venue tour

Steffi Jones begins her tour of the nine venues for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2011™ with a symbolic kick-off at Sinsheim town hall on Tuesday. On each occasion, witnessed by around 100 invited guests, the Organising Committee President will present the hosts with a plaque featuring the official tournament logo.

“The cities and stadiums are our most important partners before and during the Women’s World Cup 2011, a fact we wish to highlight with our inaugural visits. Naturally, we’re very much hoping a wave of enthusiasm will emanate from these very host cities and roll over the entire nation. I’m excited about this tour and I have the feeling we’ll be welcomed with open arms wherever we go,“ commented Jones.

On 30 September at the Chancellery in Berlin, in the presence of German Federal Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel, FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter and the German FA (DFB) Executive Committee headed by Dr. Theo Zwanziger, Augsburg, Berlin, Bochum, Dresden, Frankfurt, Leverkusen, Monchengladbach, Sinsheim and Wolfsburg were unveiled as the nine host cities for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2011.

Steffi Jones will be accompanied on the inaugural visits by general coordinator Ulrich Wolter, head of stadiums Winfried Nass and media director Jens Grittner.
