Deutsche Post named as National Supporter of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2011™
Deutsche Post is today revealed as the fifth National Supporter of the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011™. Germany's national post service has signed a deal which runs up to the end of 2011, encompassing the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup which is also to be held in Germany in the year before the main event. Besides mail and parcel services, Deutsche Post will also publish and distribute the official postage stamps for Women's World Cup 2011™.
"The deal with Deutsche Post is extremely significant in our preparations for the FIFA Women's World Cup", said FIFA's Marketing Director Thierry Weil. "Their presence in the everyday lives of the German people will be key in driving enthusiasm and excitement in the lead-up to the tournament".
Deutsche Post's deal with FIFA is the latest sign of the company's commitment to women's football, with a deal with the Deutscher Fussball Bund (DFB) as Premium Partner of the women's national football team already in place.
"We very much welcome the arrangement whereby Deutsche Post has committed to the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2011 and simultaneously to our women's national team, the reigning world champions. This proves that women's football, with its very special atmosphere and quality, offers an exceptionally attractive framework for business partners. Deutsche Post's association with FIFA and the DFB offers the benefit of closely linking our further initiatives to promote women's football in Germany on a sustainable basis," commented DFB President Theo Zwanziger.
"We're delighted we've already signed up our fifth National Supporter in the shape of Deutsche Post," said FIFA Women's World Cup 2011 Organising Committee (OC) President Steffi Jones. "We're especially pleased that Deutsche Post, with its branch network covering the whole of Germany, is to support us in a wide variety of ways in continuing to raise the profile of the Women's World Cup 2011. Deutsche Post's services are also ideally suited to the later phase when we begin despatching match tickets."
The fact that five of the six National Supporters deals for the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011™ have already been signed two years before the event represents the general enthusiasm surrounding the event in the host nation. Deutsche Post follows Deutsche Telekom, Commerzbank, Allianz and REWE in showing their commitment to the tournament.
