Group F: Holders to face familiar foes

Key Game Sweden-USA (20 June 2019, Stade Oceane, Le Havre) There will be a classic Women's World Cup match to look forward to in Group F when current champions USA go toe-to-toe with perennial tournament participants Sweden in the last matchday in the pool. At five games, Sweden v USA is the most recurring match in tournament history. The two have had a number of memorable games in the past. More recently, Sweden knocked out the Stars and Stripes in the quarter-finals of the Women's Olympic Football Tournament Rio 2016 to deny USA a podium finish for the first time in history.

What you need to know

  • USA were unstoppable during World Cup qualifying in CONCACAF, winning all five of their games, scoring 26 goals and conceding none. The Stars and Stripes always reached at least the semi-finals in all seven Women's World Cup finals.

  • Thailand are making their second appearance at the world finals after making their debut at Canada 2015. Head coach Nuengrutai Srathongvian, who led them in that debut campaign, returns to the global stage.

  • Chile are one of four nations making their debuts at France 2019. La Roja were runners up at the Copa America Femenina, losing to Brazil in the final, equalling their best performance in the qualifying competition back in 1991.

The stat 112 – As well as being the most successful nation in Women's World Cup history with three titles (1991, 1999 and 2015), USA also hold the record for total goals, with 112 in seven appearances. However, Germany are just one goal behind (111), while Norway sit in third (86).
